I think one of the hardest things about experiencing trauma throughout your childhood years, is unlearning the old patterns and unhealthy patterns that once nurtured and protected you and re-learning new healthier patterns. From experience I know it’s possible. It’s certainly not easy in any way, but below I am sharing one of the ways that I used to help me transform my life. That helped me to transform and completely shift and destroy old patterns, and destructive behaviours that I no longer needed or wanted.
How do you live the life you want in all areas? By beginning as if you’re already living it. It probably sounds too simple, perhaps it sounds a bit waffly. But consider this; If one of the things you wanted in your life was to feel worthy, then think about that for a minute. What does worthiness look like to you? How would you behave if you were worthy? How would you treat people if you were worthy? How would you speak about yourself if you were worthy?
When you put yourself into the mindset of the end result ‘feeling worthy’ then it begins to shift your awareness. Your decisions, habits and actions begin to change. So if I felt worthy, then I wouldn’t put others down. If I felt worthy I wouldn’t accept poor treatment from friends, family or partners.
So then once you clarify it, and you find yourself in a situation where you would normally allow others to treat you poorly, for example, revert back and question, Is this how I would allow myself to be treated if I was worthy?
When you do this, you immediately become conscious of what you’re experiencing and whether it’s inline with how you truly want to be.
This is not an exercise you get first time round. Be prepared to have to practice. Change not only takes time but takes persistence and repeated action and practice.
You have to do the work if you wanna experience the results.
Transformation from trauma takes time. Get a supportive friend on board to talk to when it gets hard.
